1698 new cases,456 recoveries and 16 succumb to Covid-19 in Kenya
Today 1,698 people have tested positive to the disease, from a sample size of 11,352 tested in the last 24 hours. Our positivity rate is at 14.9 %. From the cases 1,591 are Kenyans while 107 are foreigners. 926 are males and 772 are females. The youngest is a-17-day-old infant while the oldest is 100. Total confirmed positive cases are now 143,063 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,542,088.
Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (57), 10-19 years (62), 20-29 years (228), 30-39 years (441), 40-49 years (343), 50-59 years (268), 60 and above (299).
In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 788, Kiambu 121, Nakuru 81, Mombasa 73, Uasin Gishu 65, Turkana 46, Kisumu 43, Kitui 41, Nyeri 39, Machakos 37, Meru 35, Bomet 30, Nyamira 30, Bungoma 28, Kajiado 28, Garissa 24, Busia 23, Kilifi 20, Trans Nzoia 19, Murang’a 14, Kericho 13, Nandi 13, Migori 12, Nyandarua 11, Laikipia 10, Siaya 9, Isiolo 7, Kakamega 6, Taita Taveta 6, Vihiga 5, Makueni 3, West Pokot 3, Homa bay 2, Kwale 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Kirinyaga 1 and Baringo 1.
In terms of Sub County distribution; In Nairobi the 788 cases are from Lang’ata (69), Dagoretti North (64), Westlands (57), Kasarani (51), Kibra (49), Makadara (48), Embakasi West (47), Mathare (46), Embakasi Central and Roysambu (43) cases each, Embakasi South (42), Dagoretti South and Ruaraka (40) cases each, Embakasi East and Kamukunji (39) cases each, Starehe (37) and Embakasi North (34).
In Kiambu the 121 cases are from Thika (30), Ruiru (22), Kabete and Kikuyu (12) cases each, Juja (11), Kiambaa and Limuru (9) cases each, Kiambu Town (7), Gatundu North, Gatundu South and Lari (3) cases each. In Nakuru the 81 cases are from Naivasha (18), Nakuru West (16), Nakuru East (14), Molo (9), Nakuru North (7), Rongai (6), Njoro (5), Subukia (3), Bahati, Gilgil and Kuresoi North (1) case each.
In Mombasa the 73 cases are from Mvita (24), Jomvu (19), Kisauni and Nyali (9) cases each, Changamwe and Likoni (6) cases each. In Uasin Gishu the 65 cases are from Ainabkoi (33), Turbo (12), Kapseret and Kesses (7) cases each, Soy (4), Moiben (2). In Turkana the 46 cases are from Turkana West (45) and Turkana Central (1).
In Kisumu the 43 cases are from Kisumu Central (25), Nyakach (5), Kisumu East and Seme (4) cases each, Kisumu West and Nyando (2) cases each, Muhoroni (1). In Kitui the 41 cases are from Kitui Central and Kitui East (10) cases each, Mwingi Central and Mwingi West (6) cases each, Kitui West (5), Kitui South (3), Kitui Rural (1).
In Nyeri the 39 cases are from Mukurweini (11), Mathira East (8), Nyeri Central (7), Mathira West (5), Tetu (4), Kieni East and Nyeri South (2) cases each. In Machakos the 37 cases are from Machakos Town (11), Kalama (9), Yatta (6), Athi River and Kangundo (3) cases each, Matungulu (2), Kathiani, Masinga and Mwala (1) cases each. In Meru the 35 cases are from Imenti North (12), Buuri (10), Imenti Central and Imenti South (6) cases each, Tigania West (1).
In Bomet the 30 cases are from Bomet Central (20), Bomet East (7), Sotik (2) and Konoin (1). In Nyamira all the 30 cases are from Nyamira Town. In Bungoma the 28 cases are from Kanduyi (13), Bumula (4), Kimilili, Sirisia and Tongaren (3) cases each, Kabuchai and Webuye West (1) case each.
In Kajiado the 28 cases are from Kajiado North (14), Kajiado Central (8), Kajiado East (6). In Garissa the 24 cases are from Garissa Town (14) and Dadaab (10). In Busia the 23 cases are from Matayos (14), Nambale and Teso North (3) cases each, Samia (2) and Teso South (1).
In Kilifi the 20 cases are from Malindi (7), Magarini (4), Kilifi North and Kilifi South (3) cases each, Kaloleni (2) and Rabai (1). In Trans Nzoia the 19 cases are from Kiminini (16) and Saboti (3).
In Murang’a the 14 cases are from Gatanga (4), Kiharu and Murang’a South (3) cases each, Kandara (2), Kigumo and Mathioya (1) case each. In Kericho the 13 cases are from Ainamoi (10), Kipkelion East (2) and Bureti (1). In Nandi the 13 cases are from Emgwen (9), Aldai, Chesumei, Mosop and Nandi Hills (1) case each. In Migori the 12 cases are from Rongo (6), Suna East (5), Kuria West (1). In Nyandarua the 11 cases are from Kinangop and Olkalou (5) cases each, Kipipiri (1).
In Laikipia the 10 cases are from Laikipia East and Laikipia West (5) cases each. In Siaya the 9 cases are from Rarieda (4), Alego Usonga (2), Bondo, Gem and Ugunja (1) case each. In Isiolo the 7 cases are from Isiolo Town (4), Merti (2), Garbatulla (1).
In Kakamega the 6 cases are from Lurambi (3), Ikolomani, Lugari and Matungu (1) case each. In Taita Taveta the 6 cases are from Voi (3), Mwatate, Taveta and Wundanyi (1) case each. In Vihiga the 5 cases are from Luanda (2), Emuhaya, Hamisi and Vihiga (1) case each. In Makueni all the 3 cases are from Kibwezi East while in West Pokot the 3 cases are from West Pokot.
The 2 cases in Homa bay are from Homa bay Town, the 2 cases in Kwale are from Lunga Lunga and Msambweni (1) case each, the 2 cases in Tharaka Nithi are from Chuka.
The case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central and the case in Baringo is from Baringo Central.
Today 456 patients have recovered from the disease, 267 from Home Based and Isolation Care, while 189 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 97,650.
Sadly, 16 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. One occurred in the last 24 hours, one within the last one month while 14 are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates. This pushes our cumulative fatalities to 2,292.
Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (45), 10-19 years (17), 20-29 (94), 30-39 years (205), 40-49 years (322), 50-59 years (520), 60 years and above (1,089).

A total of 1,620 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,247 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 235 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 48 of whom are on ventilatory support and 155 on supplemental oxygen. 32 patients are on observation.
Another 261 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 248 of them in the general wards and 13 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
VACCINATION: As of yesterday, a total of 378,363 people had been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine. From this number 104,726 are Health Workers, 30,821 Security Officers, 52,420 Teachers and 190,396 are other members of the public who include those at 58 years and above. In terms of Gender 213,971 (57%) Males and 164,392 (43%) are females.
