8 more test positive for Coronavirus now 363 in Kenya – Health CS Mutahi Kagwe

We have confirmed 8 cases of coronavirus today, four from Mombasa and the rest are from Nairobi.

We have also discharged 8 recoveries today; CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Today, we continue to register tremendous progress in terms of recoveries. In the last 24 hours, an additional 8 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital, bringing to total number of recoveries to 114.

All the 8 cases confirmed today are Kenyans.
5 were picked by our surveillance team, while 3 are from the mandatory quarantine facilities.
They are aged between 13 and 65 years.

2 cases are from Kibra, Nairobi and the quarantine facility at Kenyatta University.

The Kwale case is from Tangä at Lunga Lunga border

4 cases are from Mombasa, Mvita.

Following President Uhuru Kenyatta directive, National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus has approved guidelines for partial reopening of eateries and restaurants.
AlI restaurants shall only operate between 05.00 a.m.
and 04.00 p.m.

Restaurants must limit the number of diners or customers to 4 people for every 10 square metres space.​
Tables in the dining areas must be spaced 1.5 metres apart in the dining area or seat customer groups at least 1.5 metres apart.

Customers will have their meals delivered individually to the dining table by appointed restaurant stewards & where buffet meals are served only one person shall be appointed by the restaurant; CS Mutahi.

Restaurant are expected to;
Maintain distance from the back of one chair to the other chair not less than a metre
AIcohol shall only be sold with a meal in the restaurant
Temporarily discontinue self-service foods such as salad bars or buffets.

Restaurants must;
ensure quality & safety of food, rinse &sanitize food contact surfaces, disinfect surfaces, floors & counters.
Install adequate portable running water & accessible washing basins for hand washing purposes, at the entrance & exit points.

Restaurants and eateries must install a contact free thermometer and ensure that every person entering the premises has his/her body temperature taken.

11.Any staff member or reveler with temperature above 37.5 degrees shall not be allowed entry into the premises, and the premises shall immediately notify the Ministry of Health through the toll free no 719 for guidance.
