President Uhuru Kenyatta; Confirms 7 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 343.

President Uhuru Kenyatta; A total of 98 have recovered from #COVID19

President Uhuru Kenyatta; While we mourn the 14 that have succumbed to Coronavirus disease, we also celebrate the 98 recoveries.

Today is the 44th day since the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed. Medical experts had projected 10,000 people would be infected by the end of April. However, due to DETERMINED mitigation measures – we are now at 343 confirmed cases; President Uhuru Kenyatta.

We have tested over 17000 people for #COVID19. Mass testing shall continue; President Uhuru Kenyatta. Employee testing to be undertaken.

The KEY to returning to normal life is keeping our infection rates falling and raising our testing rates. So far, we have tested over seventeen thousand samples (17,492) and are proceeding with mass targeted testing. ~President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru; Cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi, Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Mandera counties has been extended for a further period of 21 days on advice of Kenya National Emergency Response Committee (NationalERKe)

The nationwide dusk-to-dawn curfew that is currently in force be extended for a further period of 21 days; President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The counties of Mandera, Kilifi Kwale and Mombasa have registered an increase in cases of infection. If the trend does not reverse, more stringent measures will be taken in consultation with the County Governments; President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru Kenyatta; We will ESCALATE and DE-ESCALATE on the basis of how vulnerable we are to LARGE-SCALE INFECTION.

You can avoid going to hospital or contracting COVID-19 if you follow instructions and use the face mask, wash your hands and maintain social distancing. There is much that the government can do but 90% of the responsibility is with you; Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho.

Our researches KEMRI_Kenya are involved in research to find a vaccine for COVID-19; President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru Kenyatta; A 30 day National Hygiene Programme will be launched on Wednesday, 29th April 2020.

The first phase of the National Hygiene Programme will employ 26,148 workers, and eventually grow to over a hundred thousand of our youth.

Making of face-masks will be undertaken by 4,048 tailors. For their neighbourhoods, they will make up to 250,000 masks per day, to stimulate the local economy while advancing our war against the coronavirus; President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru Kenyatta; We have a post-coronavirus economic recovery plan, progressively being rolled out; to activate micro, small & medium enterprises across the country to manufacture basic medical equipment & medical supplies for domestic use & export.

This initiative shall be nested under the Universal Health Coverage agenda and will utilise 1.5 Billion Kenya Shillings; President Uhuru .
