473 more Covid-19 cases in Kenya now 9448-Health CS Mutahi Kagwe

Today, we have tested 6,979 samples, out of which 473 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya. The cumulative number of tests conducted so far now stands at 206,584 and the total case load in the country is 9,448

Out of the 473 positive cases 468 are Kenyans while 5 are foreigners, with 324 being males, and 149 females. The youngest positive case is one year old child, while the oldest is 90.

The new positive cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 316, Mombasa 43, Kiambu 25, Machakos 23, Busia 21, Kajiado 12, Migori 8, Uasin Gishu 5, Kisumu 4, Kilifi 3, Nakuru 3, Lamu 3, Taita Taveta 2, Marsabit 1, Kericho 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Turkana 1, Uasin Gishu 1 and Laikipia 1.

New positive cases by sub-counties;

Nairobi, 316 cases are in; Kibra (71), Langata (65), Dagoretti North (59), Westlands (21) Embakasi West and Kamukunji (13) cases each, Kasarani and Roysambu (12) cases each, Embakasi South and Ruaraka (9) cases each, Dagoretti South and Starehe (7) cases each, Makadara (5), Embakasi Central and Mathare (4) cases each, Embakasi East (3), and Embakasi North (2).

Mombasa, 43 cases are in; Jomvu (16), Mvita (14), Changamwe and Kisauni (4), cases each, Likoni (3) and Nyali (2).

Kiambu, 25 cases are in Kiambu Town (15), Kikuyu, Ruiru and Thika (2) cases each, Gatundu South, Juja, Kiambaa and Lari one (1) case each.

Machakos, 23 cases are in Athi River.

Busia, 21 cases are from Matayos (16) and Teso North (5).

Kajiado, 12 cases are in Kajiado North (9) and Kajiado East (3).

Migori, 8 cases are in; Suna East (5), Nyatike (2) and Kuria west (1).

Uasin-Gishu, 5 cases are Ainabkoi (3) and Turbo (2).

Kisumu, (4) cases are in Kisumu East.

Kilifi, (3) cases are in Kaloleni, Kilifi North and Kilifi South one (1) case each.

Lamu, (3) cases are in Lamu West.

Nakuru, (3) cases are in Naivasha (2) and Nakuru North (1).

Taita-Taveta, (2) cases are in Voi.

Kericho, one (1) case is in Ainamoi.

Laikipia one case is in Laikipia East.

Marsabit, one (1) case in Saku.

Trans-Nzoia, one (1) casa Endebes and Turkana, has one (1), in Turkana Central.

Today, we are also delighted to inform you that 76 patients have been discharged from various hospitals having recovered from coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,733.

Sadly, we have lost eight (8) more patients to the disease, bringing our fatality count to 181. Our heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends of the bereaved.

We have today, for the first time lost a medical doctor to coronavirus. The deceased passed on at Aga Khan Hospital where she had been admitted. Our heartfelt condolences go the family & friends; Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Raila Odinga: My deep condolences to family and colleagues of Doreen Adisa who succumbed to Covid-19 . Her death is a painful reminder of the sacrifices health workers make so that we may live. Our best tribute to Doreen is to avoid reckless behavior to contain the disease. We owe you Doreen.

MOH_Kenya CS Mutahi Kagwe today toured Kilifi County to assess the level of preparedness in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Accompanied by area Governor, Amason Kingi, he emphasized the need to upscale capacity to contain community transmission.

MOH_Kenya CS Mutahi Kagwe, today visited KEMRI one of the accredited CoVid-19 laboratories in Kilifi.

Today we have over 25 testing laboratories, distributed across the country, which are playing an important role of detecting the virus.
