389 more Covid-19 cases in Kenya now 12062 – Health CS Mutahi Kagwe

Today, we have 389 people who have tested positive of coronavirus out of a sample of 3545 tested in the past 24 hours. The country now has 12,062 cumulative positive cases.

Today we have discharged 345 people, 134 from hospitals and 211 from home based care. So far no one has died from the virus from the home based care program; Dr. Patrick Amoth Ag. Director General of Health Services.

From the new cases *385 are Kenyans and four are foreigners.

*260 are males and 129 are females.

*The youngest is a five month old infant, while the oldest is 95.

The 389 cases are distributed in Nairobi 270, Kiambu 26, Nakuru 15, Makueni 14, Mombasa 11, Busia 9, Machakos 9, Kajiado 6, Kisumu 4, Kericho 3, Kilifi 3, Turkana 2, Mandera 2 Uasin Gishu 2, Bungoma 1, Garissa 1, Kakamega 1, Kwale 1, Taita Taveta 1, Tharaka Nithi & Trans Nzoia 1.

In Nairobi, cases are in Westlands 38, Langata 35, Starehe 30, Embakasi East 24, Dagoretti North 20, Kibra 19, Makadara 16, Embakasi South, Kasarani and Roysambu 14, cases each, Kamukunji 12, Embakasi Central & Ruaraka 8 cases each, Embakasi North 7 & Mathare 2.

Kiambu, has 26 cases in; Kikuyu (8), Kiambaa (7), Thika (5), Ruiru (3), Lari (2) and Kiambu Town (1) while in Nakuru, the (15) cases are in Nakuru west (15) and Naivasha (6).

Makueni, has 14 cases in; Kibwezi East (7), Kibwezi West (4) and Makueni (3).

In Mombasa, 11 cases are in; Mvita (6), Changamwe (2), Jomvu, Kisauni and Mombasa Old Town (1) case each.

Busia, has 9 cases in; Teso North (4), Matayos (3), and Teso South (2).

Machakos, has 9 cases in Athi River.

Kajiado, has 6 cases in Kajiado East, and Kajiado North (2) cases each, Kajiado central and Loitokitok one (1) case each.

All the (4) cases in Kisumu are from Kisumu Central.

All the (3) cases in Kisumu are from Kisumu Central.

All the (3) cases in Kilifi are from Rabai.

Turkana has (2) cases in Turkana West.

Mandera, (2) cases in Mandera East.

Uasin Gishu, (2) cases in Ainabkoi and Turbo one (1) case each.

Bungoma, (1) case in Kimilili.

Garissa, (1) case in Fafi.

Kakamega (1) in Mumias West.

Kwale has (1) case in LungaLunga.

Taita Taveta (1) case in Taveta.

Tharaka Nithi (1) case in Chuka.

Trans Nzoia one (1) case in Kiminini.

*Tharaka Nithi is the latest county to report a Covid-19 case bringing to 43 the total number of counties with cases.

Nairobi continues to lead with 6,761 cases, followed by Mombasa with 1,794 and Kiambu is third with 666.

*Muranga County is number 23 out of the 42 Counties that have recorded a case with 17 cases.

Today 345 patients have recovered from the disease. Out of this number, 211 have been under home based care, while 134 have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries so far to 3,983.

Unfortunately, we have lost 5 patients to the disease, bringing our fatality to 222. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the departed.

Our sincere appreciation to the healthcare workers who are continuing to serve our country with dedication, enabling us to achieve such results.

l am glad to announce that an additional 20 Cuban Doctors from Henry Reeve Brigade, will be arriving in the country tonight, to offer services for the next six months; CS Mutahi Kagwe.

This are specialized doctors in internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, renal & pediatrics. With the Covid-19 cases rising, these specialist doctors will go a long way in supporting our doctors in managing the disease; CS Mutahi Kagwe.

We want to focus on targeted mass testing. Home based care is the best way for us to manage the virus
We want to roll-out training even to family members for people to be managed better by their families; CS Mutahi Kagwe.
