318 more cases,243 recoveries and 10 succumb to Covid-19 in Kenya

Today 318 people have tested positive for the virus, from a sample size of 2,592 tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 41,937 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.
Our cumulative tests are now 595,791. From the cases, 309 are Kenyans and 9 are foreigners. 215 are males and 103 females. The youngest is a three-month old infant while the oldest is 90 years.
Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 112, Uasin Gishu 30, Mombasa 29, Nakuru 25, Busia 24, Kisii 21, Kisumu 19, Kakamega 8, Muranga 8, Kilifi 6, Laikipia 5, Kiambu 5, Embu 5, Homabay 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Turkana 3, Machakos 2, Isiolo 2, Kajiado 2, Nyandarua 1, Garissa 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Vihiga 1 and Kirinyaga 1.
In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi, the 112 cases are from Kibra (18), Westlands (14) Starehe (13), Langata (12), Roysambu (11), Dagoretti North (7), Embakasi East, Embakasi South and Makadara (5) cases each.
Kamukunji and Kasarani (4) cases each, Dagoretti South and Ruaraka (3) cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Embakasi West and Mathare (2) cases each. In Uasin Gishu, the 30 cases are from Ainabkoi (27), Turbo (2) and Moiben (1).
In Mombasa, the 29 cases are from Kisauni and Mvita (12) cases each, Nyali (3), Jomvu (2). In Nakuru, all the 25 cases are from Naivasha, while in Busia, the 24 cases are from Teso North (22) and Matayos (2).
In Kisii, the 21 cases are from Kitutu Chache South (16), Nyaribari Chache (3) and Bonchari (2). In Kisumu the 19 cases are from Kisumu Central (16), Kisumu East (2) and Kisumu West (1). In Kakamega, all the 8 cases are from Shinyalu, while the 8 cases in Muranga, are from Kangema (6), Kiharu and Mathioya (1) case each.
In Kilifi, the 6 cases are from Kilifi North (5) and Kilifi South (1). In Laikipia, the 5 cases are from Laikipia East (4) and Laikipia North (1), while in Kiambu the 5 cases are from Kiambu Town (2), Kiambaa, Lari and Thika (1) case each, and in Embu, all the 5 cases are from Runyenjes.
In Homabay, the 4 cases are from Rachuonyo North (2), Hombay Town and Rachuonyo South (1) case each, while in Trans Nzoia, all the 3 cases are from Kwanza. The 2 cases in Machakos, are all from Athi River, the 2 cases in Isiolo, are all from Isiolo Town, while the 2 cases in Kajiado, are all from Kajiado North.
The case in Nyandarua, is from Ol Kalou, the case in Garissa, is from Dadaab, the case in Tharaka Nithi, is from Igambangombe, the case in Vihiga, is from the town, while the case in Kirinyaga, is from Kirinyaga Central.
On a positive note, today, 243 people have recovered from the disease, 132 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 111 have been discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 31,340. We thank our healthcare workers for the good work they are doing that has enabled us to achieve these results.
Sadly, we have lost another 10 patients to the disease bringing the fatality to 787. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones.
