Airtel Kenya and Telkom Kenya merger update
Airtel Kenya and Telkom Kenya have applied an application to the Competition tribunal seeking revision of terms set ahead of the formation of a joint Airtel Kenya and Telkom Kenya venture according to media reports.
Telkom Kenya and Airtel Kenya have contested several conditions stipulated by the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) including preventing commercial negotiations with the government in relation to access of fiber managed by Telkom Kenya.
The two telecommunications companies filed a case before the competition tribunal to challenge terms set by the market regulator.
The two telecommunication companies also want the term limit imposed on retaining their staff to shift from a period of 2 years to 1 year.
