47 new Coronavirus cases confirmed in Kenya total now 582 – Health CS Mutahi Kagwe
In the last 24 hours, 47 more people have tested positive for Coronavirus. This brings the total number of positive cases to 582. 11 of these patients are from Nairobi, 32 from Mombasa, 2 from Busia, 1 from Kiambu and 1 from Kwale. 31 are male and 16 female.
“In Mombasa, the cases are spread in Mvita (25), Changamwe (2), Likoni (3), and Kisauni (2). The cases in Nairobi are from Eastleigh (5), Kasarani (2), Kibra (1), Umoja (1), Dandora (1) and Karen (1).
The age distribution of the new cases ranges from eight (8) years for the youngest to seventy-three (73) years for the oldest.In terms of gender, thirty-one (31) are males and sixteen(16) are females” – CS Health.
“On a sad note, I want to inform you that we have lost two more people from Coronavirus disease. This now brings to twenty six (26) the number of people who have lost the lives” CS Health.
The 2 more people aged 68 and 76 have passed on in Mombasa while at home, bringing the total number of deaths to 26.
“Despite the rising numbers, we have equally recorded eight (8) new discharges. This brings the total number of those who have recovered from Coronavirus disease to 190.” CS Health
One patient hospitalised in Kenyatta National Hospital came in to Kenya from Tanzania through Loitokitok using matatus. This shows us the danger we are in, and further tells why the measures in the transport system have been put in place.
There shall be cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh and Mombasa Old Town for the next 15 days from today 7PM
Eateries, markets within the two areas should be shut down.

Truck drivers must be tested 48hours before travel and be issued a COVID-19 free certificate which is valid for 14 days. Before being let in to the Mombasa port, Nairobi and Naivasha, as well as at the border points, they will be required to submit the COVID-19 free certificate.
Truck drivers shall be tested before leaving the port and must be tested after every 14 days.

There is an additional 40 coaches to the 60 that were there before in our Commuter rail, which carries between 40,000 and 50,000 people a day, to ensure physical distancing is adhered to.
There is also a sanitiser tunnel which commuters must pass through before getting into the train, to ensure they don’t carry the virus to the train.
